Security Preparedness Framework
A free, simple safety plan any mosque or community centre can use. Being ready is not about fear. It is not about closing our doors. It is about caring for our spaces and all who use them.

Stay Open. Be Prepared.
Mosques and community centres across the UK face the same threats again and again. This means vandalism, threats, and Islamophobic hate. Many have CCTV and locks. Far fewer have a clear plan for the first few minutes. Even fewer have named people ready to act. This Framework turns one simple idea into action. Being ready is our duty. And the best protection for any mosque is strong local friendships.
“O you who believe, take your precautions.”
If you can only do three things
Start here. These three steps protect more mosques than any single piece of equipment.
Build strong local relationships & allies
A mosque that is known, respected and connected locally is far less likely to be targeted — and far more likely to be supported if something happens.
Establish contact with your local police
Share safety advice and incident alerts, and keep in close liaison with neighbourhood officers before anything goes wrong.
Put simple Hold & Secure and Lockdown plans in place
Clarity of roles in the first 60 seconds matters more than expensive equipment. Name who does what, and practise it.

Core security principles & vulnerabilities
Why your centre could be vulnerable, and the governance-led principles that protect it — structure over expensive equipment.
A phased 3 / 12 / 36-month roadmap
Practical, low-cost steps any mosque or community centre can adopt in stages, at a pace that fits its capacity.
How-To guides + one-page checklist
Step-by-step guidance for walk-through assessments, Hold & Secure and Lockdown procedures, plus a one-page security checklist.
Lead with hope, not fear
Being ready calms a community. As well as everyday safety, imams and leaders can use Friday sermons. They can share hope, unity, and calm. This helps our people feel cared for, not afraid.
